Nifelheim
A first person puzzle adventure and my very first Unreal Engine game.

I was the sole member in a team of students working inside the engine so everything had to go through me and be implemented by me. It was a big responsibility (and bottleneck), but I did learn a lot from doing it. Since it was my first time using this engine I made an effort to keep things on the simpler side in terms of gameplay mechanics and overall technical complexity.

Although having used visual scripting before in other engines, this became my first encounter with the Blueprint Visual Scripting System in Unreal Engine. I grew to like it quite a bit.
I enjoyed it for e.g. the contextual and modular workflow, the color coding, and the comprehensive visual overview of the functionality and flow (especially if organizing things nicely with comments and containers, etc). I also liked how fast I was able to set up fundamental functionality, especially level design-related things, despite being very new to this system.
